| 内容記述 | This paper attempts to describe for Japanese colleagues part of the notable characteristics of Roger Williams' discussion on the church/state separation, as seen in the second part of his book The Blovdy Tenent of Persecution for Cause of Conscience (London, 1644); where Williams examines and criticizes A Model of Church and Civil Power allegedly composed by New England ministers, who sought cooperative relationship between the church and the civil government. In his verbal attacks on that model of the church-state, Williams often reveals his typological interpretation of the Scripture, which induces us to look beyond the tradition of Puritanism to Augustine and Eusebius. | |||||
