内容記述 | What means nationality in regard to film history? Is it always possible to define the nationality of a film? Films are considered to have the same nationality as the production company. However, many films are international co-productions ; sometimes even political power changes the nationality of a film. Even language is not an efficient clue. Italian cinema has been exported in the world ; some directors like Pietro Germi are considered as true Italian, but the major part are films of certain genres as westerns. They lack national character to the point that they are not even recognized as Italian. If so, they are often considered as cheap imitations without originality which comes from some supposed nationality. However, film nationality is a dubious quality. Internationality itself has become a distinct characteristic of the Italian cinema. Like Hollywood cinema, Italian cinema tries to be international, mostly in order to be easily exported. In this article, demonstrating how Italian cinema crosses the borders, several problems concerning the methods of film history are examined. | |||||
