In this paper, the variation of stress concentration depending on the pitch ratio of the voids, p/D, and the diameter ratio of the voids, φ/D, is investigated by means of photoelastic experiments. The following results are obtained. Either the normal stress and the shearing stress increases with the increase of the diameter ratio φ/D. However, the pitch ratio p/D does not affect the normal stress around the circular void. In the part of the slab between voids the shearing stress and the normal stress increase with the decrease of pitch ratio p/D. For the case of φ/D=0.7 which is the most generally used value for the void slab in practice, the maximum normal stress around the circular void becomes the value of 16 times the mean shearing stress.
