Its operating performance was much better than that of previous systems due to newly designed temperature control systems composed of a re-heater and floor heating panels. The wind tunnel could create temperature gradients as strong as a bulk Richardson number equivalent to 0.57 and maintained stable layers in the test section. The thermal boundary layer in summer was developed by using the heating panels. The cooling panel with cold water simulated the cool surface zone in parks and green belts. When the cooling panel was set to the leeward of the heating panel, a large cooled air resion was generated on the cooling panel.
