| 内容記述 | Saul Bass, a rare art director who combined the dual roles of designer and filmmaker, exerted immense global influence. This work reveals how Bass, as an art director, came to work in the then-uncharted territory of film titles. His foundation was built through continuous learning, beginning in childhood, continuing through his student years, and persisting even after entering the workforce. The chronological progression of his career as a designer is traced, presenting his work history and projects to clarify this journey. Particular emphasis is placed on detailing the influence of his diverse learning experiences. Alongside this investigation of his background, analyses of his seminal works, “Carmen Jones” and “The Man with the Golden Arm” are also conducted. For “Carmen Jones,” the focus is primarily on typography. Regarding “The Man with the Golden Arm” his innovative approach, the reactions it elicited, and its fusion with music are also examined. |
