| 内容記述 | The author designed the courses “Basics of Design A” and “Basics of Design B” for the 2023 academic year. “Basics of Design” aims to equip first-year students with the foundational creative attitudes and skills necessary for their studies. This paper examines the educational effectiveness of these courses through a questionnaire survey. The survey results showed that while students reported a sense of growth and viewed the educational outcomes positively, faculty evaluations were not as pronounced. Previous research has pointed out that the traditional design studio and critiques can be adopted in university design education and make structured teaching and learning difficult, and also contribute to learners’ perplexity. This is because in design education, educational goals are often multiple and ambiguous, and it is this ambiguity that stimulates learners and induces creative leaps. The survey results reflect this dual structure and suggest that for students, while becoming accustomed to the format of design education, they gain a sense of growth, and this period may serve as a preparatory phase before receiving full-fledged studio-based education in their third year and beyond. |
