The analysis of submitted notes reveals that students successfully incorporated several key instructional elements proposed by Iwata et al. (in press), such as asking follow-up questions, providing detailed responses, and deepening interaction through self-disclosure. However, certain aspects, including storytelling (second stories) and expressive responses (e.g., exclamations), require further improvement. To address these challenges, the study proposes instructional strategies that support students with limited vocabulary\nand grammatical confidence. These strategies include structured self-disclosure activities, explicit training in backchanneling and conversational turns, and step-by-step expansion of responses.
