In 2022, a plan was announced to build a high-rise apartment building next to this historic site to the south, prompting opposition from local residents who were concerned about the deterioration of the landscape. This paper presents the process of this landscape problem (Chapter 2), an overview of the Sagami Kokubunji ruins and their protection (Chapter 3), and the status of protection of Kokubunji ruins nationwide based on a questionnaire survey (Chapter 4).
